Its been asked if you can sale your extra bonsai at the show.  I think it would be Ok as long as you are showing a "finished" bonsai also, and are promoting the Club in a way to leave the Club in a good light.  Let me know what you all think. email me at grow@agarden.com or post here. Was a good time yesterday.  Good attendance.  Workshop and plant trade. Someone left their pruners on the table, I have them.  Looking for more to be part of the "show".  Rex brought his viewing stone so we may want to add that to the show. If you have bonsai you would like to show please email me a discription so we can work out number of tables needed and space. A photo would be helpful, please send it in the body of the letter, I will not open files. Everyone wanted show prizes to be in cash like 1000.00 for best of show, that isn't going to happen. Unless you want to have to pay to exibit ..............  .LOL  Start thinking of what and where for a May meeting. Email me or post here your wants and ideals......  . If anyone is interested in helping to setup the show the help is needed. Will also need some comittments for time to stay and help with the show. I guessing the time would be something like 1:00pm to 5:00 pm.   ...............

Last gathering we went on a collecting trip and then worked of the trees we collected. Some nice finds.  Jeff almost ended up in the river. Funny. Need to know of next gathering, April??? Let me know if any of you have ideals....... . I guess I will set a date of April 15th.  It may be too late to do any collecting(?) We could always do a nursery visit, or a visit to a local collection or ....  or a workshop in the park..... .  I guess we had someone show up at the park after we left for the woods, sorry if anyone else showed up late. Everyone that had confirmed attendence had showed up and wanted to do some collecting. Not knowing anyone else was going to attend we headed for the woods. So, please if your thinking of attending email me and let me know.  I always check this blog/email about an hour (1:00) before leaving for the meeting.  I'm thinking of doing a show this summer if there is enough interest. If we can get enough participants there could be judging (in think popular) and prizes,.... .Let me know on any and all subjects here. or grow@agarden.com

This warm weather has got plant buds a swelling.  It looks like it could be a fairly short window to do much hard root pruning. This months meeting may be  the best time for hard root pruning this spring. There should be a larger window for repoting and limited root pruning this season. Naturally dependent on what plant your working on.

The rain called for this sunday the 11th reminds me to make a note that you should check this blog in case of weather and the change of location to inside or cancelation of the gathering/meeting. I have some member email addresses and will attempt to email any change. 

With alll this warm weather buds are trying to break.  It may be best to open up those cold frames even at night to let the cold air in when its in the 30s and 40s to slow bud break. There's still a good chance of cold weather and the chance of burnning/killing new foliage.  Post your reports of bud break here.

So far the March gathering looks like it will be on the 18th at 2:00 pm. Oak Grove park. It will be a general workshop, so bring what ever you would like to work on. There have been a couple on people wanting a literati "kit" and workshop. Let me know if you want me to bring something for you to work on or have ideals for subject.  I will bring a supply of wire, pots,.......  . Looking to see who wants a Feb. gathering. email me. grow@agarden.com For those of you who have not made it to one of the weekend field trips you have missed a pretty good time, the weather is really cooperating...... .  We have dug a good many trees to work into bonsai, collected moss for finishing groundcovers, rock for decor and root over rock bonsai.  I will start digging Chinese elms for anyone that wants.  We should have plenty to work on in meetings all spring and summer,fall......  . We have talked about bringing someone in for a demo. Someone maybe from an afilliate club. There will be some costs. Not much if enough want to attend. Maybe as little as 5-10.00 per person.  If anyone is interested I will be bringing in bonsai pots for spring (March).  Also there has been some interest in Dai bonsai.  Anyone else?
